DI Mixed Bed Resin is used in refillable cartridges. Demineralisation Resins are used to reduce TDS (polishing the water).

The TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) from a reverse osmosis unit is not always as low as required so using DI resin will bring the TDS down to zero or almost zero.
